Hands On Ministry Projects

John Wesley said if you want to find God, you need to spend time with the poor, because God is with them. Since "Engaging in Ministry with the Poor" is one of the four areas of focus, we are providing local service opportunities on Thursday afternoon Jan. 29th from 1 - 4 pm for persons who would like to participate.
Transportation will be provided. Plan to be in the Hotel lobby by 12:45pm.
SO 1 Methodist Children’s Village – a low income daycare and preschool
Possible activities: Work with the children, administrative work, work on the facilities
Number of volunteers: 6-8
SO 2 DLC-Nurse and Learn – Daycare, preschool and after school care for
medically
fragile children
Possible activities: Work with the children, administrative work, work on the facilities, medical assistance
Number of volunteers: 6-8
SO 3 Second Harvest Food Bank – Processes food to give to agencies
who feed the
poor and elderly
Possible activities: Stocking, sorting and handling donated food products
Number of volunteers: 8-12
SO 4 Sulzbacher Center – Feeding the homeless
Possible activities: Cooking and serving meals
Number of volunteers: 8-12 (especially for youth and young adults)
SO 5 Volunteers in Medicine – Provides medical care for low income persons
Possible activities: Administrative assistance, work on the facilities, medical assistance

SO 6 Volunteer Jax – Refers volunteers
Possible activities: Many possibilities

SO 7 New Life Inn – Homeless services
